Since it’s initial construction in 1929, Sylvania Lodge has been a mountain getaway for generations. Sited directly along a dramatic mountain stream in the heart of the Laurel Highlands, it is a rare example of the artisanship of  Craftsman Bungalow Architecture, featuring original oak woodwork, period furnishings, and oil landscape wall paintings.   Carefully restored and fully updated with the latest modern conveniences (including high speed internet service), a visit to Sylvania Lodge provides a memorable experience that can’t be matched by area hotels or condos.

The Great Room: Surrounded by windows on 3 sides, the great room provides a dramatic overlook of the rushing waters of Kooser Run directly below, and the surrounding beauty of nature. A woodstove provides warmth and ambience in winter months, while the sound of the water falls directly below can be heard through the windows lining 3 sides.

Living Room: Features a fireplace, authentic Craftsman decor and wall landscape oil paintings. DVD and VHS video players are available for your enjoyment.

Bedrooms: There are two private bedrooms, one with a bed to sleep 2, and the other with a double bunk bed for 3. Sleeping for additional guests is made available via fold out beds in the great room and the living room couch, providing sleeping for up to 8.

Kitchen: Features a modern full size refrigerator, gas stove, microwave, toaster coffee maker, and with all dishes and utensils.

Bath: The large bathroom includes 2 sinks and a shower.  A modern front load washer/dryer provides further convenience.

Heating:  Central gas and electric baseboard heating provide well balanced heating throughout the lodge.   A stone fireplace and woodstove provide auxiliary heating and ambience.

Enclosed Front Porch: The enclosed front porch, surrounded by windows, provides ski racks and a convenient area to stow gear.

Outdoor Patio: A stone patio and fire pit are located  behind the lodge along Kooser Run, providing a seasonal outdoor living area with Adirondack Chairs and Benches.  Additionally, an outdoor picnic table is provided in a separate area among the hemlocks and stream.

Hiking Paths: 2 bridges, a mountain spring, nature paths and a streamside volleyball court invite exploration of the immediate area.

Restaurant: A short path leads to the restaurant, serving delicious and affordable breakfast on weekends, and lunch and dinner daily.  An outdoor deck provides a great place to unwind and have a drink from the full service bar, which often features live music.  Many of our guests choose never to cook!
